Bird of Prey

My hubby was coming home from a handyman job and found this little one dead in the road. He brought it home for us to see and give a burial. It is an Eastern Screech Owl. This one was probably full grown, as they are 8 to 12 inches long. It's so sad that he became prey to a car.

    1. Yes, indeed. My oldest wants to work with birds of prey when he gets older because he loves them so much. Not the way we like to see them up close. But beautiful to marvel at, nonetheless.

  2. Birds are fascinating, your son is surely on his way.
How sweet of your hubby to stop and pick him up.
I once spent an entire summer documenting the activities of a pair of Red Tail Hawks in my backyard. Always a special bond with Raptors.
The photo of his feet is wonderful, I can't stop looking at it!
A noble ending to an untimely death.

    1. J, my son would be in heaven observing the hawk pair! We loved seeing the hawk nest on our vacation. He wants so much to train falcons, but it takes quite a bit of training (two years apprenticing with a trained falconer), but he also wants to rehabilitate injured birds of prey. Our local nature center has a wildlife rehabilitation training we both want to take soon. Thanks, dear. Yes, we were fascinated by his amazing talons.
      Love and light, Jenny
